Like all growth‑minded corporations, we're constantly searching for new people whose talents, energy, and enthusiasm can contribute significantly to Sun's plans for the future. But we're Interested in your personal future as well. We'll encourage you to write a career plan for yourself, and we're committed to providing processes to help you execute that plan in the specific areas that interest you most.

 

We know that salary is important to you. And we think you'll find Sun very competitive in terms of initial starting salaries and very realistic in the timing of performance reviews. Specific policies vary among the Sun operating units so we advise you to discuss the subject during your employment interview.

 

We also understand that benefit programs are more important today than ever before. It is the practice of the Sun companies to make available to their employees a range of benefit plans consistent with their needs and supportive of the objectives of the organization.

 

These benefits can include: paid holidays, paid vacations, assistance with medical, dental, and hospital costs, life insurance and disability programs, a savings plan, payment of some college costs, and retirement income assistance. The particular benefit programs of any one Sun subsidiary are, of course, determined by the management of that company. The programs are too detailed to be described here, but the individual companies will be glad to provide you with this information.

 

Beyond those basic areas, Sun provides programs and policies designed to help its employees gain the most from their work environment and their careers at Sun.

 

As you learn more about your individual talents and aptitudes, we're ready to help you develop them. Sun Institute is an in‑company learning center which offers qualified people the opportunity to expand their management skills and their knowledge in a variety of disciplines.

Many types of outside educational assistance programs are also available.

 

In addition, Sun's Human Resources Development Committees ensure that people with leadership qualities and professional talents receive specific exposure to varied business situations and special educational opportunities in order to help them realize their full capability.

 

There can be opportunities to join other subsidiaries later or to change

 

your responsibilities within your company. Through Sun's Internal Placement System (IPS), you'll have the chance to move into other positions, to tackle different kinds of problems, to change geographic locations, if you qualify. A detailed description of IPS and Sun Institute can be found on page 24 of this brochure.

 

You might also be interested in our Summer and Co‑Op programs. Many college students use these as a way to test their career plans. For information about available openings, write directly to the company which interests you or ask your college placement office for details. Sun Production, Sun Gas, and Sun Petroleum Products are the most active Sun companies in this area.
